Hmm this could get touchy……..

Alright before I go into this post in it’s entirety I just want to start off by saying this is not necessarily directed at anyone in particular, nor is it designed to offend purely for the sake of offense. Some folks may read this post and get pissed, I can’t help it, some may read it and go yes right on, again I can’t help it. I’m only playing devils advocate here and tossing out my own personal OPINION on a particular subject. Now with all that said and done if you can’t get it through your head and still wanna go off and get all bitchy with comments let me just short cut to the end right now and say you will be told in no uncertain terms to go fuck yourself.

Okay everyone still aboard who is willing? Alright then let’s begin. I have seen across the web lately an increase in specific groups related to BDSM (or at least they say they are ) and I am trying truly to understand it. I may come off as harsh, blunt, and generally an ass on this blog  but on this post I am simply going to try and keep the bullshit out of it and just go for plain and simple answers from my point of view. The group is Goreans and the question is, why are they not accepted? As I said I can only speak for myself on this and say why I personally do not like them as a GROUP. Get that? I said GROUP not individuals not this person over here or that person over there GROUP. I’m making sure I clarify so no one can play the martyr and try and come back later and say..well you said this about me. No if I’m going to single you out I will have no problems doing so and you’ll know it.

So on to the meat of it all, why do I not approve of like or am generally able to tolerate goreans? The best way to explain it would simply be to say I think they are generally hypocrites. First off so there is no argument of terms let me show you the definition of the word not what it means based off of personal interpretation….

I am going off of definition 2 of the word. I feel that many claiming to be Gorean are acting in contradiction to stated beliefs or feelings. In this case it would be a world with pre set rules and definitions created in a sci-fi book series. You see many goreans take only what they like of the whole gorean pre set structure from the books and try and apply it to themselves and their M/s relationship. As an example as a gorean slave owner many house holds would be considered poly. In the fact they own use and share various slaves with various people for various reasons. Yet some not all but some would be goreans or those claiming to practice as such would be highly offended by such a concept or to be asked such. Why? It is a part of the world you wish for and the lifestyle you seek to emulate. Why would this bother you? Or the ever popular argument that it is a nature based philosophy calling for a return to primal roles and a more natural way of life. Okay if that is the case and you “believe” in it so much why are you on the computer posting about it as opposed to going out there and living it? I have read most of the books I know what you are talking about so it’s not like I am just going off on something I do not understand or have no idea about. On Gor technology is banned the priest kings simply do not allow it. So if you are going to live your life true to the ideals set forth by this fictional world why use any more technology than you have to? You may have a computer for things in life you need say..bill pay on line, getting important information via e-mail etc and so on, but you certainly can limit yourself to  use of just those things and don’t have to have groups, web blogs, conversations what have you about gor. Simply because the very spirit of doing so isn’t really gorean at all.

Aside from all that and back to the topic of hypocrisy I have seen time and time again people trying on line to tell others about gor saying it isn’t all slave based and a vast majority of the females in the gor world are free and own slaves themselves. All in all trying to make the concept sound more appealing to the masses. To this I say they are much like those who quote the bible and use passages only that support their cause and not the whole message. Yes it is mentioned in the books that the majority of folks on gor are free and yes there are free females on gor and yes they own slaves. But as an overall philosophy it also states (and I do not remember which book this is in or what paragraph) that all females wish secretly to wear the collar and should be slaves. (#Note this particular notion of free females also goes in direct contradiction to the “Primal role” mind set of an all natural world of the male predatory mentality, with the female as the nuturing mentality) Again if you’re going to live it and practice it do it all the way not just half assed. And yes yes it’s  got females in power and much like queens or empresses on earth. But  what is failed to be mentioned in that is almost each and every one is a target for another rival city to be kidnapped and made into a slave for ransom or because of some grudge. So yeah you can be in power as long as you can stay safe and only that long.

I could go on and on about it and the contradictions in argument with those who advocate it vs how it actually is. I realize that simply put the lifestyle they aspire to is no more attainable in this day and age than say having a plantation in the deep south complete with your own slaves from a legal stand point. It just simply can not be done. However taking bits and pieces here and there of an overall idea makes you no more gorean than my knowing about Bobba Fet and star wars makes me a Mandalorian. In short if you are going to BE something as in live it, call yourself it, and preach it  than you need to BE it all the way not just pick and choose or take what you like apply it to yourself and call yourself that and so there done. Other wise you are in my book a hypocrite and not really worth listening to, and you can chapter and verse all you like from the books, but as I said earlier it isn’t the whole story, one sentence is far and away different from the over all idea.

So yeah that is my own personal problem with “Goreans” this is only my thoughts and ideas at large directed at a subject matter as just that the subject matter overall. If you are reading this and are gorean and find yourself saying hey I don’t do that he’s nuts! Then I have to say yeah you are dummy read the section I wrote about the computer and technology. But again this isn’t a slam against specifics this is an over view of what I personally find wrong with the whole basis of this so called philosophy, and to answer the eternal question of “why aren’t we liked?” Well from my corner of the world that’s why. So the question was out there I have seen it before, and I decided to answer it. If you don’t like the answer simply put stop asking.
